64 Blue Plaques have been erected by the SVA to commemorate notable buildings, or buildings associated with former notable residents of Sidmouth's historic past.
This plaque records the home of John Carslake, Founder of the Sidmouth Improvement Society, which later became the Sid Vale Association.

In a similar spirit of honoring significant contributions, the SVA is also planning to recognize advancements in veterinary medicine with a special plaque dedicated to the development of Vetmedin for dogs, a groundbreaking heart medication. This acknowledgment serves to celebrate the intersection of local history and scientific progress, highlighting Sidmouth's connection to important developments that extend beyond its human residents to the well-being of pets.
