The Sid Vale Assocation is staffed totally by volunteers, and is dependent upon them to continue the work of the SVA. Museum
Stewards
New stewards are always welcome. If you like meeting people, are interested in what the Museum offers, then why not consider this. Also, as the museum is continuing with fairs like Blackmore and Astrofest, they would like Stewards to help man the stands. Contact the Museum on 01395 516139.
Administrator
In the course of trying to sustain the work of one of the best voluntary operated museums in Devon, we urgently need the help of someone with office administration skills. Someone who can familiarize themselves with official advice and government legislation, and work with the Curator in ensuring the Museum conforms to required standards. Conservation and Planning Committee
Volunteers
For decades this committee has played an important role in the Conservation of Sidmouth’s heritage, both in terms buildings and countryside. It has contributed greatly to the town and countryside which we cherish today. We are seeking 2 or 3 persons to join a small group, who, usually working in pairs, monitor building applications submitted to the planning authority. Where necessary a letter may be written giving grounds for amendment or objection. The committee acts on behalf of almost 2,500 Association members. Special skills are not required and help will be given. Access to the internet and e-mail preferable. In addition, we are also seeking a Chairman for this committee. Keith Owen Fund Grants Committee
Volunteers
The Keith Owen Fund is administered by the Sid Vale Association in accord with the Objects stated in its the Constitution, viz “To protect develop and improve for the benefit of the public the beauties amenities and heritage of the Valley of the River Sid in East Devon . . . “ (Art.3, Rev. Constt, April 1999).
The Grants Committee is a group of up to 10 persons, forming a sub committee seeking Applications from individuals and voluntary organisations for financial Awards. We are now looking for 2 or 3 volunteers to help with this worthwhile work. The committee consider Applications received bi-monthly, (up to six meetings per year). The committee is guided in assessing the suitability of each application by means of the Terms of Reference provided. There are also opportunities for the Committee to initiate its own projects or encourage others to do so. The committee is not required to raise money to support this activity. Committee Secretary
We also seek a someone to receive applications, circulate them to the
committee, take minutes, and deal with a small number of letters
confirming Grants. Help will be given.

Meetings Secretary
This position entails:
- arranging a programme of four talks per Winter season for October, November, January and February
- Booking the Manor Pavilion
- To inform the SVA Treasurer for settlement of
- Confirmation of public address system and other equipment
- Confirmation of speakers attendance
- Confirmation of dates for the teas with the SVA Social Secretary

Distribution
To undertake the distribution to the Museum, the Town Information Centre, and local retail outlets, of the Landscape Calendar and the Countryside Walks packets.
