Social and Excursions

SOCIAL COMMITTEE
The SVA is well served by a willing band of volunteer helpers, who make up the Social Committee. This seeks to provide opportunities for Members to meet informally over tea or light refreshments. A raffle is sometimes offered.   Summer activities may include Quiz nights, wine tasting, etc, or functions in Margaret's Meadow.

Coach party

One or two excursions are offered annually to interesting places or areas not usually associated with the National Trust, (which has its own local programme of outings). We therefore offer alternatives.

Occasionally, the committee seeks ways to raise funds for the SVA.

WALKERS
We live in one of the most beautiful areas in the United Kingdom. The SVA has for many years arranged a variety of different walking activities, some of them accompanied by Guides.

Information for Walkers

The SVA publishes leaflets, maps and books for walkers, and other literature about the Sid Valley.  These are obtainable through the Museum and local booksellers.

LOCAL INTEREST TALKS
For many years the Association has attempted to provide, both for its Members as well as for Sidmouth residents a regular series of interesting talks. An annual programme is planned by the Meetings Secretary, and usually held in the Manor Pavilion theatre monthly, on Wednesday afternoons at 2.30pm. More recently, we have inaugurated an annual Museum talk. All our talks are usually illustrated. A small charge is made at the door, and includes tea and biscuits.
